Heath's Learning Model Presentation

Learner:  Heath      Learning Coach:  Miss Abbott               Date: 26th Jan 2016
Learning Area: Learning model
Learning Observed
Mr Heath shared an understanding of the four vision principles that reflected OPS learning model, that is geared towards future focused learning, and this was also linked to the NZ key competencies. He supported LCs to make connections to how each piece/s that does not have to be linear, connects to the ‘language of learning’.
Evidence of learning

Mr Heath displayed an interesting concept - how it can be difficult to write a statement about what learning is... without the aid of visuals.

Next Learning Steps

  • To provide a handout of the four Cs, outlining each principle in relation to samples of corresponding actions and skills that can be undertaken to support LCs to use the language of learning in their practice.
  • Create A3 posters that can be placed in our learning habitat for LCs and learners to refer to… regular exposure of the ‘language of learning’ create more IMPACT what a good learning looks like at OPS.

Learner: Heath         Learning Coach: Kaori Kobayashi                  Date: 26/1/16
Learning Area:   Induction Day 2
Learning Observed
Today Heath shared his learning about how the team at OrmPS co-constructed the learning model. He showed that he was collaborative when he showed his presentation.
He encouraged the learners to have a group discussion about “What is learning?” etc.  He showed 2 videos and the learners unpacked and sorted out their (our) understandings.(Connected).  He explained learning is more important than outcomes.  The learners is capable to learn all the time, life-long.
Heath encouraged learners to look at the logo in different way - not 4C and the learners connected the logo with their (our) understandings of “learning” and curiously find others’ ideas.

Photos - Diane has lots of photos so ask her.

Here is the video that Heath showed us;

Next Learning Steps

Heath should be very proud of his achievements today. However there are Deaf learners there.  His next steps are…

  • Slow down
  • Pause for Deaf learners to read the slides
  • Take more time to explain the tasks - use simple words and tell briefly

Learning Observed
Today Heath presented the learning model to us. He showed us two video’s posing different questions about how learning is viewed. Health gave us an in depth description of the four vision Principals of OrmPs and how they can be incorporated into every day. Heath demonstrated that he was curious about learning as we explored and unpacked what the meaning of learning is. We collaborated as we discussed the notion of accidental learning, and Heath shared his views on learning being intentional.

Learning Area:  How we learn
Learning Observed and Vision Principles
This morning Heath shared the OrmPS learning model with the new Learning Coaches.  He began with two videos about what it means to learn - today, and in the future; which created curiosity from the Learning Coaches.  This lead to small group discussions where Heath joined in with and made connections to the language in the videos.  He was able to clearly articulate the four areas of the model and how they can become part of our everyday language.

Heath used various visual tools to help encourage thinking and participation from the group of Learning Coaches.
Next Learning Steps
  • create A3 copies of the OrmPS learning model for all the Learning Coaches
  • discover other amazing videos to share with others
